Foster + partners’ designs for the ‘zayed national museum’ in abu dhabi was revealed by
his highness sheikh mohammed bin rashid al maktoum, vice-president and prime minister
of the UAE and ruler of dubai and her majesty queen elizabeth II of the united kingdom.
conceived as a monumnet and memorial to the late sheikh zayed bin sultan al nahyan,
the founding president of the UAE, the museum will be the centrepiece of the saadiyat
island cultural district and will showcase the history, culture and more recently the social
and economic transformation of the emirates.
I think this will be one of the best building be Foster & Partners when it is completed. I like the design and also how it incorporates nature as part of the building. It is as if the building is springing off a mountain with access on both sides of the mountain… One of the aesthetically pleasing buildings by far
It looks like Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center by Building Workshop from 1998, just a bit angled…

I’,m agree with Ivan,.. why i look like it too..??? the structure and the facade…… it’s look Jean Marie Tjibaou Center by Renzo Piano,….
But,. in Renzo design, they use bamboo with steel…

Realmente impresionante……; Basit, apunta algo que tiene cierta similitud a simple vista con La Opera de Sydney….., pienso lo mismo.

I’m asking now, how much did Renzo Piano get payed for his design to be re used!?! I know Jean Marie Tjibaou Cultural Center is FANTASTIC and not even Foster could resist it, but was it necessary to copy it so literally?!?

That is an amazing green roof, especially with all the palm trees sticking out. I am terribly confused about the ice cream cone or clam shell shapes coming out of the roof. Ummm . . . why?! Was this designed by two different people?
That would be one of great wonder. It’s amazing and simply beautiful.
